National Safeguarding Adults Week 16 – 22 Nov 2020

National Safeguarding Week is an annual event held in November with the aim of the week to raise awareness about safeguarding. If you are looking for Safeguarding Training, the Carers Federation can help you with our on-line Safeguarding training courses:-

Safeguarding Competency training courses – This course is designed for front line Information, Advice and Support staff and Volunteers who work with vulnerable adults and is based on The National Competence Framework.

Adult Safeguarding in Residential Homes – We offer this course as a context-specific version of our Adult Safeguarding course. The content is aimed at front line staff and volunteers working in residential establishments, such as care and nursing homes with adults at risk, who do not have managerial or team leader responsibilities. It also follows the National Competence Framework for Safeguarding Adults.

Action for Young Carers Team deliver meals to Young Carer Families

With lockdown restrictions ongoing, many in our communities are struggling to get basic supplies. That’s why  Action for Young Carers team spent a busy afternoon delivering 45 hot, freshly prepared meals to some of the Young Carers and Nottingham Works Families we are supporting.

But we couldn’t have done it without our excellent community partners. Big shout out to Sewa Day (twitter: @sewaday) for providing the ingredients and thanks to Larwood and Voce (twitter: @LarwoodVocePK) for cooking it all up for us. We would also like to thank Hetvi (twitter: @hetvi_sw) for coordinating our efforts.

Social distancing measures were strictly adhered to.

Parents into Work event

A great start to the year we were invited to attend the Parents into Work event at Bulwell Jobcentre on the 16th January 2019. It was an opportunity for us to let people know about the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) project, we are running. Which is part funded by Nottingham City Council, DWP and the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESP).

The event gave parents who are returning to work access to information and support on:

Identifying their skills and career aims,

CV building and getting online,

Up skilling/Training,

Financial Support/Budgeting,

Employment opportunities and support with applying for jobs,

Exploring Childcare options.

Missing Appointments Matter

NHS Nottingham City CCG have commissioned a video animation aimed at citizens to encourage them to attend medical appointments, and to take children and adults they care for to their appointments.  The animation is aimed at raising awareness about the consequences of missing appointments and to ensure that children and adults get the medical care that they need.
