Go Ape June 2017

Some of our Young carers had a wonderful day up in the trees at Go Ape this week.  Having fun with friends and building confidence by taking on Zip Wires, Tarzan Swings, Rope Ladders and a variety of obstacles and crossings.

Archery and Tennis

This summer we’ve been heading to the Forest to take part in a 6 week Archery and Tennis course! Young Carers from the City and the County have come together to have fun, improve our skills and take part in friendly competitions. Here are some photos of the fun!

In the Easter holidays we had a Family Sports day with Sports England! Over 2 hours, we all had a go at athletics, javelin, tennis and basketball. Everyone got to practice their skills and enjoy being active. Sports England are running lots of free events in Nottingham for Young Carers and adults, be sure to check the Nottingham City Council website for free events near you!

Children of Courage Awards!

As we know, all young carers are courageous and do amazing things every day. This year, we were invited to the Children of Courage Awards to see 4 of our Young Carers receive awards in recognition of their dedication and hard work. The event took place at Notts County Football Ground and everyone was treated to a 3 course lunch before being presented their awards by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham. We didn’t miss the opportunity to stand on the pitch either!

Dance! Dance! Dance!

We’ve been doing lots of work recently with London based arts charity, Create. Here’s some photos from our last 2 Dance projects where young carers explored themes around identity. Both groups made amazing dance pieces and chose to perform their pieces at the end of the 3 day workshops.

First Aid Training

Our 5-8 year old young carers took part in an Emergency First Aid course with East Midlands Ambulance Service. We learned what to do if someone is not breathing and how to call for an ambulance. Here we are checking for breathing and practicing CPR! airwayCPR
